IMG_1673 It is with heavy hearts that we will bid farewell to Marlene this week. Marlene has been heading up our vegetable garden for the last year and a half. Though she thought she’d be putting down roots in the Bay Area, her wanderlust has caught up with her and she’s decided to pack her bags for Uruguay. She will be heading to South America to work for Chef Francis Mallman at his restaurant “El Garzon”. Marlene will have the oppor- tunity to use the skills she gained at Frog Hollow to start a garden for the restaurant. The organic farm to table movement is just taking off in South America so she’s excited to see how it grows at her new restaurant and throughout the country. Farmer Al is pleased to be able to welcome new young farmers to the Frog Hollow team in order to help them learn the myriad of skills it takes to become a successful farmer. Marlene says she’s learned a lot about running a business, heading up a growing operation, and operating Farmers Markets while at Frog Hollow. She’s also learned a lot about coordinating between different departments at the farm like the kitchen and account- ing offices, in order to support the Farmers Markets we attend. She is thankful for the learning opportunities that Farmer Al has provided both on farm and off. She has gained a lot of knowledge from attending conferences and educational events, in addition to her on farm work. Marlene says she will miss the quiet of the farm in the evenings and her walks through the orchards the most. And, of course, all the great friends she’s made here. We are excited for Marlene and wish well in her new adventure. And we are thankful for all the hard work she’s done getting our vegetable production up and running. Farewell Marlene. We will miss you!
