A note from farmer Al : December 29th

Happy Holidays from All of Us at Frog Hollow Farm

Dear CSA Members, December 21/2014: The shortest day of the year. One of the most beautiful here at Frog Hollow Farm. Everything has been washed clean from the recent rains. Even though the sun was shining I felt like I was living in a water world. The day dawned foggy with the air dripping with moisture. The ground is soggy and saturated with the rain that fell last week, dew drops glisten in the tall green grass and every leaf is dripping tear drops of joy. By mid-afternoon I could see a hundred miles in every direction, the air was crisp and sparkling so I decided to spend it with my oldest daughter, Maddie. We went out into the fields of our Winter Garden looking for anything and everything that was ripe and ready to eat. We found 2 kinds of kale, 3 different kinds of lettuces, radishes, turnips, cabbage. And while we were picking our amazing bounty we were both stung by stingy nettles – a first and nasty – experience for Maddie. The day ended with the most beautiful, fiery red sunset I have seen in many, many years. Our wish for each of you is that your holidays are spent enjoying good food, good friends and family. Happy Holidays! Farmer Al and Maddie   Signature of Farmer Al
