Katie Gronsky, who’s been helping out with Marketing at the farm, is off to graduate school in a few weeks. Katie was busy working on blog posts, social media, and web site fixes for Frog Hol- low.com. Bringing a solid knowledge and appreciation of sustainable agriculture, she’s been a real asset to us. We Katie will be sorry to see her go!

Previous to her time at Frog Hollow, Katie worked with the Pacific Coast Farmers Market Association where she developed programs to connect low-income populations to fresh produce and health education. She’d visit Women, Infants and Children (WIC) sites, schools and non-profits serving target populations to talk about the benefits of eating fresh, local and organic foods, while promoting the use of food stamps and WIC checks at local farm- ers markets. Her visits included cooking demos and classes for participants.
She will be starting a Masters in Urban and Environmental Plan- ning at the University of Virginia in January. She’s particularly interested in biophilic design – AKA urban greening – through green walls, parks, meridians and community gardens and farms. These spaces serve as both a carbon sink, but also as spaces to en- hance community health. Green spaces foster emotional well-be- ing and can serve as spaces for people to engage with one another. Upon finishing her degree Katie hopes to work in a capacity that will increase agriculture in urban areas.
Farewell Katie! And best wishes at grad school!
