Warren Pears Frog Hollow Farm, Brentwood, CA This is Frog Hollow Farm’s signature pear and for good reason. It has a great origin story, discovered by Thomas Oscar Warren growing naturally outside a post office in Hattiesburg, MS. Once known as the Post Office pear, it’s taken on its founder name is a favorite of chefs. Too difficult to grow for most farmers, it’s never caught on commercially but Farmer Al has never shied away from putting the time and effort into a fruit that tastes so good. It has a classic European texture, very soft and juicy with a silky sweetness that avoids the typical grittiness found in most pears. Fuyu Persimmons Chieci Farm, Live Oak, CA The Fuyu has a crisp texture with a rich honey sweet flavor. They have a beautiful orange to red hue when ripe, often with tiny brown speckles on the skin. They can be eaten out of hand with skin on or peeled. Fuji Apples Cuyama Farm, New Cuyama, CA Fujis are a cross between Red Delicious and Ralls Janet, an heirloom apple dating back to Thomas Jefferson. Fujis are loved by many for their crisp, sweet, and juicy character. Pomegranate Twin Girls Farm, Yettem, CA Native to the regions of Persia and the Western Himalayan range, pomegranates have been cultivated for several millennia. When sliced open, a beautiful array of jewel-like seeds are displayed. The aril is the colorful casing that surrounds the edible seeds and has a sweet tart flavor. Enjoy the arils alone or use them in salads, desserts, or beverages. Red Seedless Grapes Delano, Richgrove, CA Firm, large, and sweet the Flame Seedless are one of the most popular varieties in North America. Enjoy these out of hand or try them in green salads, chicken salads, or fruit salads.
