As you might\u00a0remember from our recent farm focus\u00a0on the subject, 18 Reasons is a fantastic SF non-profit working to empower\u00a0their community to buy, cook and eat\u00a0good food everyday.\n\nOver dinner, guests got the chance to\u00a0ask Farmer Al everything they\u2019ve ever\u00a0wondered about Frog Hollow, organic\u00a0agriculture, how to grow their own\u00a0fruit and more. The conversation ranged from Al\u2019s personal history to the challenges of the National Food and Safety Act. Al, the ever charismatic speaker was the star of the evening.\n\nBut really the true guest of honor was our Warren pear. The dinner was a 3\u00a0course meal featuring, of course, our pears. Each course was more delicious\u00a0than the next. We started out with a light and sweet pear toast with farmer's\u00a0cheese. Next we were served heritage pork with warren pears poached to perfect.\u00a0These pears melted in my mouth and tasted like autumnal nostalgia manifest.\u00a0And finally for dessert, our bowls were graced by a pear and buttermilk sorbet\u00a0adorned with pear crisps. The sorbet had an incredible flavor - just a hint of tang\u00a0immersed in creamy, pear glory.\n\nThankfully for all you foodies out there, 18 reasons regularly hosts not only\u00a0dinners like these but also regular classes on all kinds of food related topics. We\u00a0hope you\u2019ll get the chance to attend one of 18 reasons events.
