Marlene\u00a0has been heading up our vegetable garden\u00a0for the last year and a half.\r\n\r\nThough she thought she\u2019d be putting down\u00a0roots in the Bay Area, her wanderlust has\u00a0caught up with her and she\u2019s decided to\u00a0pack her bags for Uruguay. She will be\u00a0heading to South America to work for\u00a0Chef Francis Mallman at his restaurant \u201cEl\u00a0Garzon\u201d. Marlene will have the oppor-\r\ntunity to use the skills she gained at Frog\u00a0Hollow to start a garden for the restaurant. The organic farm to table\u00a0movement is just taking off in South America so she\u2019s excited to see how\u00a0it grows at her new restaurant and throughout the country.\r\n\r\nFarmer Al is pleased to be able to welcome new young farmers to the\u00a0Frog Hollow team in order to help them learn the myriad of skills it takes\u00a0to become a successful farmer. Marlene says she\u2019s learned a lot about running a business, heading up a growing operation, and operating Farmers\u00a0Markets while at Frog Hollow. She\u2019s also learned a lot about coordinating\u00a0between different departments at the farm like the kitchen and account-\u00a0ing offices, in order to support the Farmers Markets we attend. She is\u00a0thankful for the learning opportunities that Farmer Al has provided both\u00a0on farm and off. She has gained a lot of knowledge from attending conferences and educational events, in addition to her on farm work.\r\n\r\nMarlene says she will miss the quiet of the farm in the evenings and her\u00a0walks through the orchards the most. And, of course, all the great friends\u00a0she\u2019s made here.\r\n\r\nWe are excited for Marlene and wish well in her new adventure. And we\u00a0are thankful for all the hard work she\u2019s done getting our vegetable production up and running. Farewell Marlene. We will miss you!","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
