Too difficult to\u00a0grow for most farmers, it\u2019s never caught on commercially but, Farmer Al has\u00a0never shied away from putting the time and effort into a fruit that tastes this\u00a0good. It has a classic European texture - very soft and juicy with a silky sweetness that avoids the typical grittiness found in most pears.\r\n\r\n<strong>Fuyu Persimmon<\/strong>\r\n\r\n<em>Milleans Orchards, Lodi, CA and Chiechi Farm, Live Oak, CA<\/em>\r\n\r\nThe Fuyu has a crisp texture with a rich honey sweet flavor. They have a beautiful orange to red hue when ripe, often with tiny brown speckles on the skin.\u00a0They can be eaten out of hand with skin on or peeled.\r\n\r\n<strong>Hayward Kiwi<\/strong>\r\n\r\n<em>Chiechi Farm, Live Oak, CA<\/em>\r\n\r\nOriginally known as the Chinese gooseberry due to its Chinese origins. Hawyward\u00a0Wright, a New Zealand nurseryman propagated his plants by grafting, and they eventually became the preferred cultivar of growers due to their sweet flavor and thin skin.\r\n\r\n<strong>Satsuma Mandarin<\/strong>\r\n\r\n<em>Terra Firma, Winters<\/em>\r\n\r\nSatsumas are typically seedless with a thin skin that is loosely attached to the\u00a0flesh making them very easy to peel.
