The flesh of the blood orange is firmer and more dense than an orange and its flavor is a little more tart. These beauties sweeten and darken in color as the season progresses.\r\n\r\n<strong>Algerian Tangerines<\/strong>\r\n\r\n<em>Abounding Harvest Mountain Farm, Los Gatos, CA <\/em>\r\n\r\nThis tangerine\u2019s skin is a beautiful red-orange hue and is so thin that it peels very easily. Inside, the fruit is succulent and very sweet.\r\n\r\n<strong>Meyer Lemons<\/strong>\r\n\r\n<strong>Abounding Harvest Mountain Farm, Los Gatos, CA<\/strong>\r\n\r\nMeyers are sweeter in flavor, lower in acid, and have more juice than the standard lemon.\r\n\r\n<em>Hayward Kiwi Chieci Farm, Live Oak, CA<\/em>\r\n\r\nOriginally known as the Chinese gooseberry due to its Chinese origins. Hawyward Wright, a New Zealand nurseryman propagated his plants by grafting, and they eventually became the preferred cultivar of growers due to their sweet flavor and thin skin.\r\n\r\n<strong>Fuji &amp; Pink Lady Apples<\/strong>\r\n\r\n<em>Cuyama Farm, New Cuyama, CA<\/em>\r\n\r\nFujis are a cross between Red Delicious and Ralls Janet, an heirloom apple dating back to Thomas Jefferson. Fujis are loved by many for their crisp, sweet, and juicy character. Pink Lady's are a cross between the Golden Delicious and Lady Williams. They are a crisp and juicy apple with a tart finish. Pink skins and a creamy white colored flesh that resists browning make this an excellent apple for salads and slicing.\r\n\r\n<strong>Navel Oranges<\/strong>\r\n\r\n<strong>Twin Girls Farm, Yettem, CA<\/strong>\r\n\r\nCalifornia Navel Oranges are considered to be the best Navels for eating out of hand.
