Farm Focus: Calculating Frog Hollow’s Carbon Footprint

Our commitment to sustainability runs deep at Frog Hollow Farm. From composting to offer ing habitat for owls, bats, and native bees – we keep ourselves more than occupied with efforts to Aaron, our Green Consulant minimize our environmental impact.

In recent week’s Farmer Al has decided to take stock of everything we’re doing here at Frog Hollow to see how effective we’ve been at achieving our sustainability goals. “It’s important for everyone to understand and minimize the impact that they make on the climate and our environment overall”, Al says”. So, here we’ve begun working with a consultant, Aaron Levine, to calculate our carbon footprint.

For those who might not be familiar with the term, a carbon footprint is a measurement of all the greenhouse gases emitted by an individual or a com- pany. We will be measuring all of our impacts during transportation, farming, food production, packaging, and sales.

This is VERY exciting news. Understanding our emissions in specific detail, will allow us to charter an even more sustainable path in the future.

Aaron, who will be doing the calculations, is just as eager as we are to see the results. The process calls for 800 elements to be collected. No matter what the outcome, this carbon footprint data will help us expand our vision for a truly sustainable farm and planet. In just a few minutes, you’ll be on your way to a greener future.
