Farm Focus: Meet Molly

Processed with VSCO with b1 preset

Molly joined the Frog Hollow CSA Team in May as the Customer Care & Fulfillment Coordinator who helps make sure CSA deliveries are running smoothly. She was born in Michigan and moved to the bay area 14 years ago. She has lived in different areas of the bay including San Jose, Livermore and San Ramon but has called Brentwood home for the last five years. Recently transitioning from the dental field, Molly knows that health is wealth and she brings a passion for eating well with her. Prior to her dental career she worked in numerous restaurants back in Michigan as well as the Bay Area.

Through this experience of working around professional kitchens she learned a love for food and now enjoys using bold flavors in the food she prepares for her family. One of her favorite recipes is a delicious tomato salad that she learned from a friend’s mother and she is excited to be making it again with Frog Hollow Farm tomatoes this season. Her favorite part of summer is the fresh produce and how using it in cooking makes everything tastes so fresh and delicious without needing to add much more. One of the reasons Molly came to Frog Hollow was because of the changes she has been making in her own life surrounding food.

Working at the farm has helped to make her more consciously aware of the value of buying organic food products and clean eating. She has become more informed about what goes into processed food products and some of the negative health effects associated with them. She recently decided to cut meat from her diet and working at the farm has been an important part of making that process easier and more exciting. She enjoys supporting local farms by shopping at farm stands and farmers markets for vegetables instead of the super market. In addition, she has found it to be better quality at a lower cost!

One of Molly’s favorite parts of working at Frog Hollow has been discovering the wide varieties of each kind of fruit. Peaches are no longer just peaches, they are Zee Lady, Gold Dust and Cal Red! Her favorite recent discovery has been Brooks Cherries. Molly loves getting to experience the newly introduced flavor, texture, shape and  appearances of the fruit harvested and delivered each week. She especially enjoys the fresh nectarines now in harvest!

Just like it takes a wide variety of fruit to fill our CSA boxes all year, it also takes a wide variety of people working on the farm to make it all happen. Molly is usually the person making sure you get your add-ons and vacation holds taken care of. She is a valuable addition to our staff and an integral part of our CSA team!
