Farm Focus: How to Frog Hollow’s Staying Delicious on Hot Days

For the past couple weeks we have been experiencing some very high temperatures in Brentwood. The fruit seems to be coming in faster than ever, which means everyone is working hard to make sure it gets picked, packaged and sent to its proper destination. During a time of hard work and hot weather it is necessary to take breaks, hydrate and enjoy refreshing cold treats.

For me, it is the perfect opportunity to test products among the staff. At Frog Hollow we value quality, flavor, and health. With this in mind we have created and are developing products that are made with simple yet good quality ingredients. We want to celebrate and showcase the fruit by pairing it with complimentary flavors. Here are a few of our newest products that are best on hot summer days.

Fruit Fizz:

Our new fruit soda made with natural apricot juice, cardamom simple syrup, and combined with carbonated water. It’s effervescent, thirst quenching, and lightly sweetened.

Apricot Almond Smoothie:

Created by Chef Becky, this smoothie is like no other! We make almond milk at the farm, combine it with date paste, and blend it with our sweetest varieties of apricots. The almond and apricot flavors are a match made in heaven.

Apricot Popsicles:

Made with apricot juice and a touch of lemon and sugar, the popsicles have become a staff favorite on a hot summer day

Fruit and Cream:

This light dessert is best when using top-notch ingredients. We slice the most perfectly ripe fruit, and toss it with a loosely whipped cream.

Peach Ice Cream:

Ice cream is one of my favorite summer treats to make. It is a dish that is fun to make with the whole family. Homemade ice cream always taste better than the stuff you find in the grocery store. Don’t pass up this recipe, a little work is worth the wait. In fact we would love for you to post photos of your peach Ice cream on our CSA Facebook page

Happy Peach Season!
