Next Sunday, June 14th, we’ll be hosting our 4th annual Summer Pick and Jam. We began hosting these events, so we could offer our members a regular opportunity to get a respite from city life, enjoy our orchards and deepen their relationship with Frog Hollow and the fruit they enjoy each week. There really is nothing quite like picking a soft peach from a lush green tree, taking a bite and feeling the warm juice drip down your face.
Our member events are centered around a casual day of fruit picking and orchard picnicking. We chose this open format because we wanted to make it easy for busy folks and families to come and go as they please. Each year we add a little more to round out the day’s activities. We’ve added a live bluegrass band, kids crafts, a tour of the farm and now this year we’re including a chace to stroll the veggie garden and chat with Kristin, one of our lead veggie farmer’s. Kristin will be available to talk with people in our lovely new veggie garden and hopefully sampling some fresh herbs.
It’s busy times these next few days as we get ready for the event. Molly is planning out her crafting, making sure she has the materials and volunteers she’ll need. Kristin and Marlene are making signs for the veggies garden to help folks learn about all the different plants their growing. And of course, Lael is getting all the staff and logistics together to make it all possible.
We hope you’ll join us for another beautiful Sunday in the orchard. More than anything else, we hold these events because we want to get to know you. We hope to see you at the farm!
