Farm Focus: Farewell Molly

Farewell Molly! After almost three years with our CSA, Molly, our amazing Outreach Coordinator is heading on to new adventures. We are very sorry to see her go but are happy to support her transition into other endeavors.

Aside from having awesome communication and people skills, Molly is a talented musician. She sings, writes songs and plays the ukulele. Her immediate focus is to finish recording her first indie folk EP. Most of her energy for the next six months will be focused on finishing her album.

In addition to focusing on her musical career, she plans to work with youth around building emotional resilience and empowerment. After working with Molly for nearly three years, we’ve had first hand experience, both personally and professionally, with what a supportive, encouraging and understanding person Molly is. We know these traits will serve her well as she develops her work in the emerging field of social and emotional learning.

Molly says she’s learned a lot while working at Frog Hollow that she will take with her including how to structure detailed systems to keep a complex organization that has a lot of moving parts in working order. But her biggest take away from working at Frog Hollow is that she’s really come to appreciate how much work goes into producing organic food. She says Farmer Al has largely converted her to the belief that food should be more expensive because cheap food is an illusion built on farm subsidies for commodity crops and farm workers earning very little. If we treat food like an input that isn’t important, we end up disrespecting ourselves because food is such a critical component of self care and nourishment. She’s come to appreciate the commitment Frog Hollow has to caring for the earth and for it’s employees and that good food is worth something. If food is worth something, it should cost something.

Molly says she’ll really miss the feeling of being very connected to the earth and the seasons through working out at the farm. She loves the romance and beauty of the farm and will miss her role in connecting so many people to the seasons and to the food that is grown here. She especially loves the farm events that bring so many of our members to the farm to share in the beauty and bounty of the orchard. Luckily, we think Molly will continue to join us for events. Look for her this June at our annual Summer Pick and Jam. We hope to have her join our friends from the Mt. Diablo String Band for music in the packing shed!
